Don’t bother trying to verify — nearly everything sold at street vendors and official gift shops is the same mass-produced stuff, and the only “authentic” Niagara Falls items (like actual rocks or water) are illegal to take home.

The real difference is price and return policy. Official gift shops inside the parks charge more but you can return a defective item. Street vendors are cheaper but you’re buying as-is. Neither is selling you a genuine “piece of the falls.” Vendors who claim to sell “natural” rocks or “ancient” artifacts are lying — they’re painted concrete or generic trinkets imported from the same factories as everything else.
