Snap Circuits Jr. made me feel like a good dad and a dumb one at the same time

This is the toy that made me feel like a good dad AND made me feel slightly dumb — both things I’m fine with. The instructions are clear enough that my kid could follow them independently, which made me look like a genius for picking it out. But some of the circuits were complex enough that I had to pause and think, which is exactly what you want in a kids’ STEM toy. It hits that sweet spot where the child feels capable and the parent feels like they’re learning alongside them. The Jr. edition has enough projects to keep them busy for weeks without being overwhelming, and the snap mechanism means no tiny screws to lose or wires to strip. It’s the kind of toy that makes you feel like you’re doing parenting right, even when you’re secretly just as confused as they are.
