Quad skates are the right call if your kid struggles with inline balance
Most kids start on inline skates because that’s what’s available, but inline skates demand a specific kind of ankle stability that younger kids simply don’t have yet. Quad skates — the classic four-wheel layout — give a much wider base of support, which means less wobbling and more actual skating. If your kid has tried inlines and spent most of the time on the ground, quads are the obvious pivot. They’re also having a retro moment, which means your kid gets to look cool while learning a genuinely useful skill.
