The backyard badminton-and-volleyball combo set sounded better than it plays

A combo set sounds like a great deal — two sports in one box for less than the price of either alone. In practice, the net is too low for proper volleyball and the badminton poles are flimsy enough that a decent breeze knocks them over. The shuttlecocks that come with it are the cheapest possible kind that crack after three hits. You end up with a set that’s barely adequate for both sports instead of genuinely good for one. Pick your sport, buy a proper setup, and you’ll have a better time. The savings aren’t worth the frustration.
