It’s a single-wall trekking pole tent that weighs under 20 oz, pitches fast with two stakes, and—unlike most ultralight shelters—has two vestibules and decent headroom. You can actually sit up and change clothes without feeling like a trapped bat.

Zpacks still makes the Plex Solo if you want to shave a few more ounces (it’s around 14 oz), but you trade interior space and you’ll pay a premium. The X-Mid Pro 1 is about $700, which isn’t cheap, but it’s fair for what you get. The Gossamer Gear The One is a solid budget option (~$300, 21 oz) if you don’t mind a single vestibule and tighter quarters.

For 2025, I haven’t seen anything that changes the calculus. The Six Moon Designs Luna Solo is still good for a tarp-like design, and the MSR Carbon Reflex is a freestanding option if you hate trekking poles, but it’s heavier.

If you want the best balance of weight, space, and livability, the X-Mid Pro 1 is the answer. Your back will thank you after a 20-mile day.
