Yes, soldered RAM gets cleaner power because the traces are shorter and there’s no physical socket introducing resistance or inductance. That’s just physics — less distance, fewer interfaces, less noise.
But unless you’re benching for world records or running memory-sensitive workloads that rely on nanosecond timing, the difference is academic. Modern socketed RAM with a decent motherboard handles power delivery just fine. Most people won’t see a performance gap.
The real trade-off isn’t power — it’s upgradability. Soldered RAM gives you a tiny power advantage and a massive flexibility penalty. So unless you’re building an ultra-thin laptop or a low-power embedded system, socketed is still the practical choice.
