Unlike the later NUC 13, the NUC 8 Bean Canyon has its processor soldered directly to the motherboard. What ships is what you get: an 8th Gen Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 from the Kaby Lake-R or Whiskey Lake-U lineup. There’s no socket, no upgrade path, no swapping in a faster chip down the road. If you’re buying one used or planning a build, make sure the soldered CPU matches your performance needs — you’re stuck with whatever configuration came out of the factory.
