The Dell OptiPlex 3000 Micro has solid ports but no USB-C

The OptiPlex 3000 Micro is a perfectly capable business micro PC, but Dell’s port philosophy here feels conservative. The notable omission: no USB-C port anywhere on the chassis.

What you do get: two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB 2.0 Type-A, HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet, and a headset jack. That’s four USB-A ports total, which is fine for keyboards, mice, and a flash drive or two. The HDMI + DisplayPort combo covers dual monitors without adapters.

But in a world where even budget laptops have USB-C, seeing a 2022-era business desktop without one is a deliberate choice. Dell is clearly betting that enterprise fleets aren’t ready to switch to USB-C peripherals yet. They’re probably right for bulk deployments, but it makes the 3000 Micro feel a generation behind before you even unbox it.
