The M720q adds USB-C but keeps VGA around — a transitional machine

The M720q captures a transitional moment in PC I/O. USB-C has finally made it to the front panel — but it’s running at Gen 1 speeds (5 Gbps), not the Gen 2 (10 Gbps) you’d want for fast transfers.

Up front: two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB-C (also Gen 1), and a combo audio jack. The rear is where things get interesting — DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA all appear together. That’s three video outputs on a mini PC, which is generous. But the inclusion of VGA in a machine that also has HDMI and DP tells you Lenovo was still supporting legacy projectors and monitors.

Also on the rear: two more USB 3.1 Gen 1, two USB 2.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. No Thunderbolt, no 2.5GbE, but a solid, workmanlike port selection for its generation.
