The 2012 MacBook Pro 13-inch maxes out at 16GB of DDR3 SO-DIMMs

The unibody 2012 MacBook Pro 13-inch is one of the last Macs with user-upgradeable RAM. It takes two 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz SO-DIMMs for a total of 16GB. That’s modest by today’s standards, but this machine is from an era when you could still buy RAM off the shelf and install it yourself — no soldering, no proprietary modules.
