The Synology DS1522+ separates storage from caching with SATA and NVMe

The DS1522+ uses 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives for its main bays and reserves its two M.2 NVMe slots exclusively for SSD caching. It’s a clean architecture — just don’t expect to see those NVMe drives as storage volumes in DSM.
