The Synology DS923+ swaps Intel for AMD — no hardware transcoding

The DS923+ marks a change from its predecessor. Instead of Intel’s J4125, Synology fitted an AMD Ryzen R1600 dual-core processor. The upside is solid single-threaded performance and good DSM responsiveness. The trade-off is losing Intel Quick Sync hardware transcoding — if Plex is your priority, the DS920+ is actually the better choice for media.
