External SSDs are the only way to expand the M1 iMac's storage

Since the M1 iMac’s internal storage is soldered, Thunderbolt/USB 4 and USB 3 ports are your only expansion path. Plug in an external SSD or NAS and keep working. It’s not as elegant as an internal drive swap, but with Thunderbolt speeds it gets the job done.
