A failed Thunderbolt 3 port on a 2016 MacBook Pro means replacing the whole logic board

All four Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on the 2016 MacBook Pro are soldered to the logic board. If one fails, you can’t swap out the port — the entire logic board needs replacement, which is a costly repair. Not great for longevity.
