Harry Burleigh's spirituals changed the sound of Dvořák's Largo.

Burleigh, an African-American student at the National Conservatory, sang traditional spirituals to Dvořák. The composer reportedly switched the famous Largo theme from clarinet to cor anglais because it reminded him of Burleigh’s voice.
