Alvin Lucier's 'I Am Sitting in a Room' lets the room become the instrument

Alvin Lucier’s best-known piece is “I Am Sitting in a Room” (1970). He speaks into a microphone, records it, plays it back into the same room, records that, and repeats — until the words dissolve into pure resonance. The room itself becomes the instrument.
