Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers kept their compositions alive for decades

All the original compositions from the album except ‘The Drum Thunder Suite’ became permanent staples of the Jazz Messengers’ book, even after Timmons and Golson left. ‘Blues March’ was a signature piece Blakey performed for decades, and a vocalese version of ‘Moanin’’ was recorded by Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.
