“Small Axe,” “Duppy Conqueror,” and “Put It On” were all originally cut with Lee “Scratch” Perry between 1969 and 1971 before finding their way onto Burnin’. It’s a direct link from the early Wailers-Perry collaborations to the album that announced them to the world.
