Don't upgrade soldered RAM.

It’s almost never worth the risk or cost. The price of desoldering and resoldering memory chips approaches what you’d spend on a new laptop with the RAM you need, and you void your warranty in the process.

Upgrading soldered RAM requires specialized equipment and a technician willing to do microsoldering on a laptop board. Even then, success isn’t guaranteed — one bad joint and your machine is a brick. You’re also stuck with the original CPU, so you’re investing in an already outdated platform.

A new laptop with the right amount of RAM from the factory costs about the same, comes with a warranty, and has a faster processor and better battery. That’s a much better deal than gambling on soldering.
