Don't try to upgrade soldered RAM by swapping chips.

Almost certainly not. Even if the new chip uses the same standard (e.g., LPDDR4X), the firmware on your laptop or phone has a hardcoded memory map. It won’t know how to talk to a different density chip.

You’d also need rework skills most people don’t have, and the risk of bricking the device is high. Plus, training the memory controller to use the new chip requires changing the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) data, which is often locked or not documented.

If you need more RAM, buy a device with the capacity you want from the start. Soldered RAM is not meant to be swapped.
