The Dreame D9 Max is the best value robot vacuum right now

The D9 Max is the vacuum I’d recommend to a friend who says “I want a robot vacuum but I don’t want to spend a lot.” It’s not the best at anything, but it’s good at everything that matters: navigation, suction, app reliability, battery life.

The price lands noticeably below the Roomba j-series and the Dreame flagships, but the performance gap isn’t proportional. You get lidar mapping (no random bouncing), decent suction for hard floors and low-pile carpet, and a battery that covers a medium apartment in one charge.

What you don’t get: the fancy self-emptying base, the rotating mop pads, the carpet auto-detection. It’s a vacuum-first robot with a basic mop attachment. If you’re okay emptying the bin yourself, this is the best value in the lineup right now.
