Downy Rinse and Refresh extracts odors without the perfume blast
Half a cap per load, goes in the fabric softener dispenser. Or if your washer doesn’t have one (lots of front-loaders don’t), just add it to the second rinse cycle.
The thing that surprised me: it doesn’t smell like much. I was expecting a heavy perfume like most fabric softeners. It’s subtle, almost neutral. That’s intentional — it’s not a mask, it’s a chemical extraction. The formula grabs the odor molecules trapped in fabric fibers and flushes them out in the rinse water.
I tested it on a gym towel that had that permanent sour smell no amount of detergent could fix. One cycle later it smelled like nothing. Not floral. Just… nothing. Which for a gym towel that used to smell like regret, is a huge win.
Works for towels, workout gear, and anything that’s been sitting in the laundry basket too long.
