An eGPU won't fix your low-RAM problems.

No. An external GPU (eGPU) offloads graphics processing, not system memory. If you’re hitting the ceiling on soldered RAM, the system will still swap to disk (or kill apps) regardless of what GPU you plug in.

The real bottleneck with low RAM is that the CPU and operating system can’t keep enough data close at hand. An eGPU actually adds overhead—Thunderbolt 3/4 has limited bandwidth and latency compared to an internal PCIe slot. So if your system is already struggling with memory pressure, the eGPU can make the overall experience less smooth, not better.

Soldered RAM is soldered. The only fix is to either manage your workload better or buy a machine with more memory. A faster GPU doesn’t give your system more room to breathe.
